Pinghe

My husband's hometown is a place called Pinghe, it's just an hour away from Zhangzhou. It's a rural place so if you go there prepare to do nothing much but relax or catch up on your favourite shows. It's a beautiful place though especially at sunset. Just a quick walk will take you to this rocking bridge and a place to watch the sunset. The best part about Pinghe is the remoteness which has been hard to find for me here in China.  I'm from Ireland which is a fairly green place so I do miss the countryside sometimes and the ease and simplicity of country life. There were places to play and swim and everyone did so most evenings we were there. It was refreshing to see people enjoys themselves and not be so caught up in the city life and the 'rat race' that catches hold of us sometimes. An evening in Zhangzhou

I have been on holiday for the past three weeks in my husband's hometown. This was the first day we came back to Zhangzhou so I decided to take 5 minutes to walk around by myself to explore the little gems that are all around the city.  Zhangzhou is located in Fujian province about two hours away from Xiamen. Fujian province is in the south of China so it's a little different to Suzhou where I have been living for the past five years. I haven't been to Xiamen yet and if I'm honest only finding my feet down here after three visits. I'm a new mum so the past two years have been very busy ones and in a way being a mum you lose a sense of yourself, sometimes it's hard to find it back.
